Circadian
Circadian, 2020 is an artwork concerning the lockdown and its disruptive effects on our internal rhythms and daily cycles. It is my attempt to visualise the consequences it has had on our physical and mental health.
The mural can be seen as a three dimensional sculpture constucted of towering shards of stained glass. The latice work of gradated linear forms represent the interconnnected nature of the rhythms of heart beats and breaths, these flow over abstracted anatomical structures composed of lungs and muscular tissue.
The colour palette takes its inspiration from sunrise and sunset, the left side the morning, the right side the evening. Ultimately, I wanted the piece to evoke a positive and uplifting response and I feel that the colours helped reinforce this sentiment.
